Road safety starts with us

Road safety is a collective responsibility that can only be fully achieved if all stakeholders, including motorists, make a commitment to ending the carnage.

Queensland Road Safety Week took place in August, while Australia’s National Road Safety Week is just around the corner (15-22 November 2020).

With many people hitting the roads for the recent school holidays and Queenslanders being encouraged to explore their own backyard due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, the Fraser Coast Beacon magazine included a road safety feature in its October 2020 edition (Issue 12).

I contributed the main article and looked at recent road statistics, how Queensland is faring compared to other Australian states and some of the measures put in place to try and reduce the number of crashes and road deaths.
